We are already nearing the end of the NFL regular season and the playoff contenders are trying to finish the season strong. With this week there was some interesting results and standout performers.
On Monday night football the Seahawks who have been a top five team this season came up against the undefeated San Francisco 49ers in a highly anticipated game and a signifier for who may end up as NFC champions this year.
The game started with the 49ers taking a 10-0 lead at Levi stadium. The ever-present 49ers pass rush asserted itself into the game getting a sack on an early drive. Jimmy Garropolo proceeded to lead his team down the pitch throwing one touchdown in the first quarter. The back and forth game continued with Russell Wilson proving why he is in the MVP race. However it was not enough and the game went to overtime. After missed field goals by the 49ers, Seattle secured the victory with a field goal of their own extending their record to 8-2 and ending Sanfrancisco’s unbeaten streak.
Lamar Jackson again proved why he is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL this season throwing 15/17 for 223 yards and three touchdowns also rushing for a spectacular 47 yard touchdown and securing a win for the Ravens.
In Patrick Mahomes’ comeback after dislocating his knee only three weeks ago he continued to show the form which won him the MVP a year ago making throw after throw for a total 446 yards. However he was let down by a lacklustre defence and a blocked field goal to send the game to overtime and the Tians ended up with the win.
Moving on to week 11 the playoff race is truly on and teams with high aspirations will be looking to end the season on a high and win the remainder of their games. The post season isn’t out of reach for teams such as the Raiders, Panthers and Eagles.
