Patrick Mahomes leads Chiefs to Super Bowl win

Patrick Mahomes lead the Kansas City Chiefs to their first Super bowl win in fifty years against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday night. Down 10 points in the final quarter of their season, the Chiefs who had already came back from two 10 deficits in the playoffs this year, managed to do it again on the biggest stage.

The Chiefs dynamic passing offense had been quelled for most of the night by the 49ers rampant pass rush and great secondary leading Mahomes into throwing two interceptions, something he rarely does. Yet Andy Reid’s aggressive coaching helped the Chiefs back to a 31-20 win over San Francisco.

Mahomes continually found Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill in the fourth quarter leading to two quick score drives. Kansas City went from facing a super bowl defeat to a four point lead in a matter of minutes, all because of Patrick Mahomes’ ability to overcome adversity in clutch situations, proving again why he is the best quarterback in the NFL at the moment and for many years to come.

The 49ers switched up their game plan massively from the NFC Championship game where they dominated and bullied a Green Bay team by running it over 30 times for a total 290 yards, with quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo being held to 8 pass attempts. Kyle Shanahan changed the 49ers to a pass heavy team in the Super Bowl with Garoppolo now throwing 31 pass attempts being intercepted twice. Was the pressure maybe too much for Garoppolo as his throws were shaky from the start of the game, He missed a wide open Emmanuel Sanders on a deep ball which could have changed the outcome of the game in the fourth quarter and then an interception to Kendall Fuller sealed the loss for the 49ers. Defensive coordinator Robert Saleh had no answer for the up tempo drives of Mahomes and in the end Kyle Shanahan had to watch his fourth quarter lead disappear for the second time in 3 years.
